Howard Johnson ain't just a motel chain, fools!
But, you can get busy in a motel with jams like this one...

Melba Moore!
Lovin' Melba's style in this Top of the Pops vid...reminiscent of that Southern Freeez vid we all hold near n' dear...
Great jam too....take a listen.
Sooo glad this holidays just about over...can't wait to get back to makin sweet tunes!!!

I spend ma' $ 2nite!
Fellas, I believe this slick Lucy Pearl jam never did quite get its just due. Now, I'm a big fan of Saadiq in all his incarnations, so I guess this here ditty is no exception...

Bass slapped silly smoove!!!
Hey tootsieroll, you wanna hear how a badass slaps a bass on da smoove tip? Listen to this ditty, and play close attention around the 4:00 mark...

Shalamar!!!
You know what? I double-dog dare you knuckle-dragging troglodytes to find a single thing wrong with this smash hit Shalamar track. I love the subtle use of strings and horns...sounds like it was built atop a Teddy Pendergrass track, then raised a couple octaves.
And, yes, that is a very young Ms. Jody Watley on backups.

Q is a smoove BEAST!!!
If there's a winner in life it's Quincy Jones. This man has been the force behind so many of my favorite jams by so many of my favorite artists for so many years, and I know he ain't done. One thing Q is a serious jedi master at is conjuring an even deeper level of smoove from the smoovest of the smoove. Every smoove crooner wants to collaborate with him, and these 2 jams are no exception...
The jam that is "The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite)" is like a "That's What Friend's Are For," or even a "We Are The World" type effort for the quiet-storm-sensual-smoove-as-cocoa-butta-on-yo-inner-thigh set...an absolute FANTASY collab...Goddamn, I love this jam!!! feat. Al B. Sure!, Barry White, El DeBarge, James Ingram & Quincy Jones biblically breakin' u off...
Do yerself a favor...pour some cherry wine, cover your couch in plastic, grab a roll of extra-strength Brawny, then BEHOLD!
As the tip of your swollen hambone is probably bleeding pearly crocodile tears of tenderness after unlocking the smoove treasures in The Secret Garden, I recommend torturing your tenderloin with another 'Q' slow-burner, "Heaven's Girl" feat. another remarkable lineup -- Ron Isley, Charlie Wilson, Aaron Hall, R. Kelly, & f-ing Naomi Campbell:
DO IT!!!!!!!!

Change - The Glow of Love...
Man, this riff is still soooo poppin' fresh (not to mention the beauty of Luther's vocal)...to think this was made just over 30 yrs. ago, and sounds like it could've easily been released today ~ and be a massive hit all over again)! A timeless, classy classic...

The System...
Something in my heart told me to post this jam after posting Loose Ends...
I especially love the balding white dude manning the synths while the leather clad light-skinned brutha roils around their shared Tropicana motel room with a karaoke mic in hand. Whatever brought them together is pure solid-gold magic!
Fella's, I'm just sooo damn excited to start working on serious jamz of our own in 2012!!!!
Loose Ends...
Oooo-weee! I just LOVE the vibe of this jam...
It sounds a little like they had a fire sale at the smooth percussion emporium, and these mofo's bought and used every damn kit! BUT, all the weird and wonderful sounds don't get so carried away they don't allow ample room for smooved-out, melodic vocals. Very niiiice!

REFRESHER: The Style Council's "My Ever Changing Moods"

In honor of Matt going to Badu concert...
I have many fave's from Ms. Badu, but this one holds a special place 4 me! Simply gorgeous...

You S.O.B.'s know Fat Larry's Band???
You know something, I just love it when disco/funk acts ride the 'quiet storm'...and Fat Larry's band provides a supreme example with "Peaceful Journey!" I bet Art Laboe plays this...could be a lowrider jam...
Okay...If you liked that 1st ditty (which I'm sure you did), grab yerself a listen to this sweet baby with a righteous groove! C'mon fellas, "Act Like You Know!

Guys...Toto feat. Cheryl Lynn!!!
Please, please listen to this, and take heed. This sound is soooo righteous, and totally within our grasp!!!
